West End Basketball Association (WEBA) is a youth basketball organization committed to player development, competitive opportunities, teamwork, discipline, and community. We provide young athletes with an environment where they can improve their basketball skills, increase their basketball IQ, build confidence, and compete against quality programs throughout the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metro area and beyond.

About WEBA

West End Basketball Association was created to provide youth athletes with structured basketball development and meaningful competitive opportunities. Our focus goes beyond wins and losses. We want every player who participates in WEBA to become a better basketball player, teammate, competitor, and young person.

Competitive Basketball Program

WEBA offers tryout-based competitive basketball teams for players looking for a higher level of competition.

Program Details

    Season

    November – March

    Practices

    Approximately 2 times per week

    Games

    Primarily played on weekends

    Tournament Weekends

    Teams may play up to 3 games

    Competition

    Minneapolis–Saint Paul metro area

    Travel

    At least one tournament outside the Twin Cities metro

    Team Selection

    Players evaluated through tryouts

    Development

    Skills, team concepts, IQ, defense, game prep

Scholarships & Financial Assistance

WEBA believes financial circumstances should not automatically prevent a young athlete from participating in basketball.

Scholarships and financial assistance may be available to qualifying families. Families needing assistance are encouraged to contact us privately to learn more about available options.

Tryouts

Competitive team placement is determined through player evaluations and tryouts.

Players may be evaluated on:

Our goal is to create competitive teams while placing players in environments where they have an opportunity to develop and contribute.

Practices

Teams generally practice approximately two times per week during the season.

Practices are designed to combine:

  • Individual skill development
  • Team offense
  • Team defense
  • Game situations
  • Conditioning
  • Basketball IQ
  • Situational decision-making
  • Competitive drills

Players are expected to arrive prepared, work hard, listen to coaches, support teammates, and compete throughout practice.

Games & Tournaments

WEBA teams primarily compete on weekends. Teams may participate in:

  • Community basketball games
  • League competition
  • Weekend tournaments
  • Invitational events
  • Metro-area competitions
  • Select travel tournaments

Tournament weekends may include as many as three games. At least one tournament may be scheduled outside the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metro area.

Coaches

Our coaches play an important role in developing both the player and the person. WEBA coaches are expected to:
